Happy Weekend friends…

It’s the weekend!! Yay!! My folks are in town for the weekend so I’m super excited and happy. The kids always love hanging with them too. Spoilt rotten much?!

This week has been fairly uneventful with one exception… I have a new car to drive around for 6 weeks. Ford Australia in collaboration with Kidspot have given me a Ford Kuga to drive around and have fun with. I will be bringing you 3 fortnightly posts about our adventures with this little spunk rat of a car. I smell a road trip!! Hooray!

Anyhoo… here are a few things I read this week that tickled my fancy. Hope you like them.

I came across this article on print lab comparisons and the difference is astonishing. I’m rushing straight for my nearest professional printer.

I am loving these 10 ways to get kids writing their name. Something I am starting to focus on with H.

These 9 helpful apps for photographers is Gold! Some of these are a littler hard core for me but there are some I off to check out right now. So good!

This story made me realise that everyone has a story, no one is perfect and we should never judge a book by it’s cover.

Family photos are worth their weight in gold. A moment captured in time. A permanent reminder of where you were as a family at a certain place in time. We had family photos done when H was 6 months old and have not done them since E was born.. she is now 2!! I feel terrible. I loved reading Baby-Mac post on family photos and thanks to her and her lovely photographer you can win a chance for a family photo session. I can’t recommend it enough. I has spurred me into action.

Do you print your photos? Do you have any tips for getting kids to write their names? What do you think of the Ashley Madison story? Have you ever had a family photo shoot?

I definitely need to print some photos out. Most of mine are on my computer, which is terrible. I have very few up to date ones of the kids to put up around the place and absolutely none of the three of us. I’d love to get a pic when we’re next together. Photos are so precious! The car sounds great. I’d love to try one out, even just for school holidays so a certain teenager had some leg room!

Bronnie, I have been so slack with printing photos too. It took me over a year to get a photos of Miss 2 in a frame. When Master 4 was born there were photos in frames within weeks 😉 ooops… poor 2nd child. Jx

I recently ducked into Big W to print off some pics. SO BAD!! The quality was terrible. The service atrocious and if I could have picked up the computer thing I put the order through and throw it against the wall I would have!! Never again. I have made a pact with myself that I will always print at a photography specialist now. Enjoy the car! And your folks. Have a great weekend. xx

It makes me so angry when you go to the effort of printing photos and they come out awful and nothing like they should. Hope you’re having an awesome time away. xx

Have a wonderful weekend Jess! Gotta love family visits 😊 how lucky are you to get the fancy Ford for a loan!! Hope they forget to pick it up and you get to keep it!! Our local Ford dealer tells me he’s ordered ours. (He loves stirring up us Holden drivers). From the looks of it though, this Ford looks VERY nice!! Enjoy lovely xx

I’m a scrapbooker so very aware of how shoddy most print labs are. I’ve mostly converted to digital Scrapbooking though to save costs and time. Photo books are so much more compact.
Have fun testing out the car. Road trip for sure!

Digital scrapbooking sounds great. I love photo books too and agree they take up much less space. I am SOOOO terribly behind in my photo books. Jx

That’s so exciting about the car! Enjoy your new wheels, and having the folks for the weekend, of course! I used to print out all my photos but have kind of run out of space to put them and time to chronicle them, but there’s something really special about looking at photos in an album! As for getting kids to write their name, I’m a bit old skool, and like tracing over the dots. I’m also a fan of making the letters in their name with play doh or finger writing their names in the sand. It’s also fun to get old wallpaper and write their name really big, because they often find the bigger movements much easier 🙂
